I feel blessed to have owned Bachista V, one of the great broodmares of our time. Back in 2001, after giving us 12 beautiful foals, national champions among them, she began breaking down on her hind ankles and could barely stand. I turned to Doug Herthel, my trusted veterinarian for over 30 years – I had been one of his very first clients – he had a suggestion. “Sheila,” he said, “Try Ortho-Chon.” 30 days later, our little mare, who’d been laying down all of the days and nights, was up trotting around. Trotting!! She went on to have 4 more foals.
